Day 3 - Kleinsasserhof

Day 3/ Dec. 30, 2018:
Ahhhhh! Mit Schlag! (with whipped cream!)
Wolfgang, Sven, and baby Angelina!

Lunch at Kleinsasserhof:
For our special lunch, we drove 30 minutes south to Kleinsasserhof. This was my third time there and Wolfgang, Sven, and Nicole's first time. My girlfriend Margit turned me onto this unique restaurant/gasthof. I had never done it for the main meal, lunch. SO EXCITING!!!
My peacock video above. :)
You thought the exterior was a lot?......buckle up!
Almdudler is my favorite soda. I've only seen it available at Cafe Katja in the Lower East Side. (Taste is similar to Ginger Ale.)
I actually shot this through the glass sliding door.
What we devoured:
My tasty local draft beer and Sven's alcohol-free Becks.
By now, you know my favorite soup -- Frittatensuppe! And my jaw dropped when I saw it served family style! It was EXCELLENT.
Sven's Bauernschweinsbratl (pork) in natural juices with Saurkraut and Serviettenknödel (dumpling)
Wolfgang and Nicole ordered the Flesichnudel (meat dumpling) sprinkled with bacon and sauerkraut.
I ordered the pork -- Gebackenes Schweinefilet with Preiselbeeren and Peteresilerdäpfel. This was DELICIOUS.
 Cappuccino mit Schlag.
Mohntorte - Poppy Seed Cake. This was the first thing listed on the dessert menu and I'm sure I had to google the meaning. Reader, this was out of this world.

I'm holding Sven's beer to add something to the photo. LOL
The restroom was cool, too!
After lunch pics:

Back home in Trebesing:
Walking to Gustav and Suvi's house up the street.

Uncle Erwin's house with beautiful Edelweiss!
 Gustav and Suvi's house.

Beautiful holiday spread.

Suvi & Gustav (Suvi was the exchange student before me, from Finland)
Klein Gustav and me
 Suvi's creation :)
Nicole and me "prosting" with Gustav x2, Wolfgang, and Sven behind us.
Trebesinger Höllentreiben:

Next up was this "hell drive". This wasn't a thing during my year abroad and I wasn't sure what they were talking about. I was about to quickly learn.
About a dozen groups from villages in the area compete for the scariest Krampus costumes and biggest flames. Clearly not my cup of tea, but happy I checked it out.
Video above.
Back home for a nice game of Rummikub:

Stay tuned for New Year's Eve!

  2. OK - first of all, Angelina is such a cute baby! Second: I LOVED this restaurant! Were you the only ones there? Third: Krampus is super scary. I remember when you originally posted these on Insta and I was freaked out again today! Lastly: I Love Rummikub and play it with my sister and niece all the time. Thanks for sharing!

    1. Isn't she?!?! I never stopped photographing her! ♥
We got to the restaurant early and it filled up. There was a big party 8 behind us celebrating a birthday.
      xoxo
