I think one of our reasons for having a happy marriage is compromise! When I had the Roxbury Motel's website up on my computer screen in the kitchen, one night, Scott said, "No!". "Uh-oh" I thought! "But babe, look at these themed rooms! Wizard of Oz! Amadeus’ Bride!...." "If we're meeting up with friends, then yes." Scott Babe said. WHEW!!!
I knew our friends Jeff & Scott had a second home nearby this motel and I coordinated with their schedule. :)
(I'm not sure what Scott Babe is doing with his finger.)
Such an easy drive up even in the rain. (140 miles from Montclair.) We took my car, vintage Toyota because I still haven't mastered driving Scott's stick shift Acura. Anyway...
Checking in :)
Scott Babe LOVES candy. This was a treat!
Our building
Our room was to the right of the funky orange chairs.
Our room was one flight up and next to this lovely patio!
Maryann’s Coconut Cream Pie (Room #27)
To jog your memory of Mary Ann's Coconut Cream Pie, play video above!
Two nights inside a coconut cream pie! It was even more elaborate than I had imagined! Even Scott Babe was impressed.
Carpet detail :)
We used the robes the next day for our spa treatments.
The island theme continued into the bathroom. Along with the typical free toiletries, a Coconut Creme Body Whip as a bonus!
Greg & Joe are the owners of the Roxbury!

The property was gorgeous:
Drive to dinner:
We drove about a half hour to Brushland, in Bovina, for dinner.
A few pics behind the restaurant:
Dinner was excellent. We shared the first two specials listed on board: Corn Salad and Burrata
My entree: Pork Schnitzel with zucchini, red onion, buttermilk
Back to the Roxbury:
Our nightcap was across the street at Public.
Saturday, Aug. 19th:
(They were full the day before)
Front desk & breakfast here
Lovely complimentary breakfast spread
I enjoyed my coffee at the fire pit. :)
After breakfast we checked out the adorable Main street (Route 30) of Roxbury:
This museum opened in 2012 and closed just a few years later.
Homes on Main street.
We then drove about 10 miles south to Arkville:
Arkville Bread & Breakfast -- Known as "Jack's" by the locals!
Jack's was in an old caboose! It was a hole in the wall, but definitely worth checking out and I look forward to visiting again.
Breakfast sandwich with taylor ham and cheese!
Just Shop Boutique across the street.
After lunch, we went next door for a vodka tasting & tour at Union Grove Distillery.
"Cream Soda" - Vanilla vodka and ginger ale
Their vodka is distilled from NY apples and wheat.
Drive back to Robxury
A glass of prosecco before spa time!
Spa:
Deep tissue massage for Scott Babe and hot tub for me.
I ended up putting this book on my b'day wishlist. My parents gave it to me! :)
‘The Green Steam -- steam area made out of 100% recycled green car windshield glass
Hot tub
Sauna
Triple Date:
We drove about fifteen minutes south to Jeff & Scott's. As we were getting closer to their getaway home in the woods, I kept thinking, "And I thought Uncle Frankie lived in the woods! That isn't anything compared to this! And I cannot imagine making it up these roads in snow!"
The party had already started when we arrived!
Funny sign at Jeff & Scott's second home!
Silhouette of window in Jeff & Scott's Catskills home that I couldn't capture below!
Backyard was a cool rock formation with wild flowers and sculpture. ♥

Dinner at PEEKAMOOSE:
Food ended up being delicious and I would love to eat here again. (There was an insane delay with our entrees because a chef cut his hand and had to seek medical attention. It would have been easier to understand if they were up front about this! Instead, we sat there thinking we were simply having bad service!)
Sunday:
I grabbed a coffee before ultimately checking out.
The cleaning ladies let me pop my head into the Wizard's Emeralds. Click here for the hotel's pics.
The Digs:
One day, I'd like to stay in "The Digs" - Room #28. Click here to see inside and daydream!
I'm pretty sure I took this one out of our room's window!
The wunderbar property behind The Digs:
It's hard to edit these photos down. The property was so gorgeous.
One more triple date at Cassie's!
Cassie's was a 2 minute walk from the motel!
I love both of these pics of Chrissy. :)
I rarely turn down hash!
Phoenicia Diner:
After we checked out of the motel, we drove 35 minutes to the Phoenicia Diner. This was our 2nd time there. By the way, they are now open for dinner. ♥
Skip the diner and order at the air-stream if you are in a hurry.
There was a wait for a table, so we enjoyed a refresher at the bar.
Waiting for our # to be called!
Bourbon Milkshake you say? OK!
Chicken fried steak, I think.
It's been so long since I ate this that I don't even remember ordering this! LOL. I assume it's a burger.
To die for Bourbon Milkshake. I need this again.
The End. ♥

So cool!! Love it! xx
